In honor of the launch of the new Kindred Cord (RED)® Heart supporting the Global Fund to fight AIDS with (RED)®, we’re excited to welcome Deb Dugan, CEO of (RED)®, as a guest blogger. In her message below, Deb shares how we can all work together to achieve an AIDS-free generation.

Every piece of my jewelry carries its own story. The beauty of wearing jewelry lies within its meaning – whether given for a special occasion or purchased at a significant milestone – it usually represents more than its physical beauty. For example, my favorite pair of earrings were passed down to me by my mother and I intend to pass them along to my daughter one day. There’s a special feeling wearing them and telling their story to admirers.
With the ALEX AND ANI | CHARITY BY DESIGN® program, they have built a story and significance into their product for their customers. They have given a new meaning and purpose for their wearers by partnering with (RED)®.
Pictured above is Constance Mudenda, a mother living with HIV, and her daughter, Lubona. In the 90s, Connie suffered the loss of her first three children to AIDS. At the time she didn’t have access to life-saving HIV/AIDS medication, called ARV’s, which not only saves the life of a mother but also prevents transmission of HIV to her baby. In 2010, Connie was put on treatment and in 2013 she had Lubona, who is HIV-free. They are proof that an AIDS-free generation is achievable.
From left to right: The Kindred Cord (RED)® Heart is available in .925 sterling silver with 14kt gold plated, .925 sterling silver, and .925 sterling silver with 14kt rose gold plated.
Every Kindred Cord (RED)® Heart helps make Connie’s story a reality for more women and children. How? Because every bracelet sold can provide enough money to buy 14 days of life-saving medication for someone living with HIV. These three silk cords represent and celebrate a story of love and hope. So support (RED)® and help change lives by wearing and sharing the story of the Kindred Cord (RED)® Heart on your wrist!
Thank you,
Deb Dugan
